This quick guide is designed to help facilitators who wish to lead an online Planetary Boundaries Fresco. If you are not yet a facilitator, attend animation training by registering on the platform!
To gather enough participants for your workshop, we recommend creating the session a month ahead of the actual date. The platform is not currently busy enough; it is really needed to promote your workshop well to fill all seats!
Taking into account the slower pace of placing, the required break and some technical issues, online workshops should last at least 3.5 hours.
Make sure you have a quiet working environment with a good network connection so you can facilitate with complete peace of mind.
Once your workshop has been created and shared with participants, you can create the workspace for the workshop on Mural.
You must first log in. If you already have a professional Mural account, we recommend using it. If this is not the case, you can use the association's Mural account with the following identifiers:
login : animateurice@1erdegre.earth
pass. : 2Tonnes.2050
⚠️If the identifiers do not work, you must try private browsing or change your browser.
Once logged into a Mural account, duplicate the latest version of the Mural template. Click on "create mural from template" in the top left corner and choose your workspace to duplicate it. Give it a good name, and edit if needed.
Normally, no modification is required, but you are free to do so.
📌 For those who have not yet worked with the templates before, we recommend using the "outline" functionality (top right corner) to show and hide elements in the Mural space. The Mural template works from the top to the bottom and follows the flow of the facilitation guide.
Hide everything you don't want the participants to see yet, and then share it with participants by clicking on “Share” at the top right of the Mural. Make sure to share the link so they can access and edit it as visitors (see image).
To facilitate the use of Mural, it is strongly recommended to use a mouse and not the computer touchpad. The mouse allows simplified movements on the whiteboard. Tell your participants beforehand!
We recommend using Jitsi Meet, a free and open-source videoconferencing site. Of course, if you have access to Microsoft Teams or a Zoom account, you can use that as well!
To create your meeting, go to the Jitsi Meet website here. Click on the link below the field to create a moderated meeting.
You can just copy the link for participants and share it with them before the meeting.
You can then copy the link to access as a moderator and keep it for yourself.
The meeting will remain accessible until it is deleted by you, so it will be accessible even if the workshop is one month after the link was created.
After joining the link, enter your name to join the meeting.
You can now use different functions as a moderator. We will focus on the 3 options that will be most useful to you:
The microphone: make sure, before the meeting, that you have a microphone and sound that works
The camera: ensure your camera is functional to communicate more effectively with participants during the workshop.
The “Participants” button allows you to manage participants and create additional rooms to separate participants into subgroups.
Once the rooms have been created, you can then assign participants to one of the rooms by clicking on the participant and then selecting the three small dots on the side to assign them to the chosen room.
Click on the participants again to bring them back to the main room once group time is over.
